A LIFE WITHOUT THE FEAR OF GOD

A life without the fear of God inevitably turns inward, where self is magnified and sin is minimized. When reverence fades, self-flattery takes its place and repentance disappears. The heart no longer recoils at sin but rather excuses it. God’s Word names this condition plainly and without apology. “There is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes, when he finds out his iniquity and when he hates” (Psalm 36:1–2).
