Matthew Maher presents Daily Dose: “.....and they bound Jesus..." (Mark 15:1).God’s abounding love is so potent and purposeful that had "they" not bound Jesus to lead Him away for His suffering and eventual crucifixion, He would have bound Himself because of the truth that He was already bound to His own abounding love. You see, Jesus was bound to His own love and this peculiar love could not have been helped along or slowed down. The ropes or chains used to bind Him were useless because His love would have constrained Him. Again, His love for us pinned Him to the cross and that’s why we don’t have to beat ourselves up in guilt as if we are binding Jesus up all over again. Nor do we have to do anything to gain God’s favor as if we are working to unbind Jesus from His suffering. No! His love constrained Him and He was passionately bound to this sacrifice. Why? So that we may have life in Him, Jesus Christ willfully died for our sin.“And they bound Jesus.”
