CLEANSING

Jesus didn’t cleanse the temple because it was messy, He cleansed it because it was misused. Holy Week begins with a confrontation: what has replaced God in the place meant for Him? Before the cross deals with sin publicly, it calls us to deal with it personally. Let Christ overturn anything in your heart that competes with His presence. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves’ ” (Matthew 21:13).
