When we lose our desperation for the Lord, we lose our dependence, because self-sufficiency always replaces surrender. Desperation isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s the birthplace of deeper trust. David cried out, not because God couldn’t hear, but because his soul couldn’t survive without Him. Comfort numbs us to our need, but desperation keeps us clinging to the Rock. “To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock: Do not be silent to me, lest, if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit” (Psalm 28:1).
