The cross is where justice and mercy met, and mercy won for us. Barabbas walked free while Jesus took his place: the guilty released, the innocent condemned. That wasn’t just his story, it’s ours. We don’t stand at the cross as spectators, but as recipients of the greatest exchange ever made. “Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified” (Matthew 27:26).
