Light isn’t passive—it pushes back darkness. That means if the “light” in us avoids confrontation with lies, compromise, or sin, then we’re not truly shining—we’re just glowing with the warm tones of silence. Neutrality in the face of moral confusion is not compassion—it’s concession. A lamp that hides its flame is functionally no different than one that’s gone out. True light exposes error and points the way home. The same light that comforts the broken will confront the counterfeit. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
