LOVE BEGINS WITH GOD

The foundation of Christianity isn't merely, "Love your neighbor." It's first, love the Savior. We love Him because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Only after receiving His love can we rightly reflect that love to others. Because God is love, our understanding of love must be rooted in His character and His truth, not the world's ever-changing definition. Scripture doesn't simply say, "Love your neighbor"; it says, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31). Just as you wouldn't intentionally harm yourself, genuine love refuses to harm others by affirming what God calls false. That's why loving the Lord and standing firmly on His Word will sometimes offend your neighbor. But biblical love never withholds the truth, because truth is not the enemy of love, it is the very expression of it.
