FOR HIS NAME'S SAKE

God forgives sin not because of any merit in the sinner, but because of the infinite merit of the Savior. In other words, forgiveness comes because of God's mercy for His name's sake over our own merit and goodness sake. "I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake" (I John 2:12).
