We were the guilty ones, yet Christ took our place without resistance. The cross reveals that our freedom came at the cost of His suffering, and our sin was laid fully upon Him. Barabbas walked free, and so do we, not because we are innocent, but because Jesus was willing to die in our place. The only right response is not to run from the cross, but to come to it. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
