The Devil’s plays rarely begin with violence; they begin with contradicting the truth, controlling the news, bringing conflict to groups, and converting the youth. But when those plays are repeated long enough, lies become normalized, division becomes justified, and eventually hatred can become action. What begins as a battle over truth can eventually become a battle against those who tell it. That is why discernment is not optional; the Church must recognize the play before we are left grieving its outcome. “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11).
