We may be no good, but there is greatness within us--“Greater is He who is in [us]” (I John 4:4) and this greatness is Christ within us. Truly, there is nothing we can do to be virtuous on our own, except to accept the fruit of the wounds of the One who made us virtuous on His own--“And by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Imagine that if you will: His pain is now our gain. His agony was for our glory. His shame was for our salvation. His rejection was for our redemption. And though we were the ones at fault for His wounds, because of His great grace, He has made us the fruit of His wounds.
