Complaining isn't caused by the greatness of our trouble, but more so by the littleness of our trust in the Gospel. You see, we can trust all of our life to a God who already gave us all of His life. "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins" (I John 4:10).
