How do you silence the critic without coming out of character? It’s easy. Take what they are conjecturing and use it as an opportunity for lecturing. My wedding is less than 3 weeks away, and according to the grapevine consensus -- Sarah and I are moving way too fast. In other words, we are not doing OUR relationship like they did theirs! Or we are not doing our “commitment” like the world expresses its.And now I stake my pointed point into the ground: the world’s way of committing leaves room for quitting. And because the world leaves the covenant of commitment at the altar after the ceremony, the wedge of divorce (1 out of 2) makes most marriages a premature funeral. At least that’s what statistics solidify. But I’m no statistics guy! So, let me be more practical when it comes to telling you what we know. And the we is not just me, but Sarah and BOTH our families. You see, the altar is where love is not only nailed down, but it’s where love was squeezed out. And it doesn’t magically happen at the ceremony. I hate to pop the bubble of popularity when it comes to relationships, but without Christ dying on the altar of the cross to live on in the altar of our heart, then there is no relational glue that keeps a marriage wrapped in ONE—not two.Again, this is what the critic fails to understand. And this is exactly where Sarah and I take our stand. At the altar! Not on a certain date—November 8th, 2014—but on a certain Person. There is no greater love and no greater glue than the covenant of marriage already established in Jesus Christ. And when He is your Wedding Planner and Marriage Counselor, then there is no point to delay. I mean, we get the critics point, but if it really concerns them, then maybe they can interlock those fingers that point and learn to pray….for us—on the topic that seems so fanciful to discuss. In marital conclusion, thank you for allowing me to clarify the power of Christ-commitment. When it’s made in Him, it’s not made to fit in! That’s why it’s called being set apart! And if it’s not being persecuted by the world, then it’s not being regulated by the Word!
