The Evidence Is No Longer On Trial. Our Hearts Are.

What we are watching as so many people reject layer after layer of evidence in the Charlie Kirk murder case is not merely a failure of reason or the physical senses. We are witnessing the material consequence of spiritual deception. Scripture calls it a strong delusion.

In 2 Thessalonians 2:10–12, Paul warns of those who “did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” While the immediate context is the coming deception surrounding the man of lawlessness, the passage reveals an enduring principle: rejecting truth opens the door to greater deception. Before deception ever captures the mind, it first hardens the heart.

People have asked why I’ve spent so much time bringing clarity to this case. My answer is simple: because I believe it is a harbinger of what is coming. From the moment Charlie was murdered in broad daylight, light burst forth but darkness also rushed in. In the days that followed, we witnessed genuine revival and many turning to Christ. But that light was quickly met with a wave of slander, lies, and serpentine tactics amplified by influential online voices, spearheaded by a modern-day Jezebel spirit.

What has grieved me most is watching so many professing believers embrace theories that collapse under even the most basic examination of the evidence. Ironically, many compare this to COVID. The difference is that during COVID I was one of the pastors publicly challenging deception because I was following the facts, reading the studies, examining the data, and weighing credible sources. The same principle applies here: follow the facts, examine the evidence, and read the record. This is not “COVID 2.0.” If anything, the comparison only reveals that many who once claimed to have learned discernment have instead fallen into another deception.

But this ultimately goes far beyond evidence. It is spiritual.

The preliminary hearing has presented DNA evidence, forensic evidence, circumstantial evidence, surveillance footage, the defendant's own statements, testimony from those closest to him, text message evidence, and even his own parents' role in facilitating his surrender. Perhaps most telling, even Robinson's own defense team has not advanced the sweeping conspiracy theories circulating online. They have challenged the state's evidence (as defense attorneys should) but they have not argued the alternative narratives that so many have embraced. Yet many still refuse to acknowledge they were wrong.

At this point, the issue is no longer intellectual. It is spiritual.

When overwhelming evidence is consistently rejected because it conflicts with a preferred narrative, pride has begun to harden the heart. Arrogance replaces humility. Delusion replaces discernment.

This is why I have repeatedly called people to repentance. Not because they misunderstood one case, but because the heart posture that refuses correction is the very soil in which deception flourishes. This is only the preliminary hearing. The state has not yet presented the full weight of its case.

I believe this moment is exposing something much larger than a criminal trial. God is using it to reveal hearts. He is separating those who love the truth from those who love the narrative.

The evidence is no longer on trial. Our hearts are. Because when truth no longer has the power to change your mind, deception already has.
