Some opportunities don’t come again. Just as Paul sensed winter approaching and called for urgency, when God prompts your heart, act quickly. Delayed obedience can be disobedience in disguise. Discern what season you're in right now and do what the Spirit is leading you to do. “Do your utmost to come before winter" (2 Timothy 4:21).
Please do tell--what does an heir of heaven have in common with an heir of hell? Nothing. Therefore, let us be set apart from the world and for the Lord. "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14)
If Satan can convince angels to leave heaven, he can connive humans into hell. And that is why we must remain vigilant against his lies by remaining intimate with the truth. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (I Peter 5:8).
The only way to be guarded in heart is to be girded by truth. You see, it's the truth that grounds us, guards us, and ultimately grow us in the Lord. "Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth..." (Ephesians 6:14).
God's providence is sufficient for every circumstance. He knows what we need and when we need it. But more than that, His presence is our greatest need. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).
The price to come to Christ costs nothing and everything at the same time. It's free to come by grace alone, but it's costly to continue, your life for His life. "So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple" (Luke 14:33).
Nothing we have lost for doing the right thing on earth can compare to the gain of what lies ahead in heaven. So with eyes forward on Christ, "forget those things which are behind and reach forward to those things which are ahead" (Philippians 3:13).

You see, many people view my life now from the vantage point of, “Isn’t he lucky that so many things have worked out for him.” And so, I want to remind you where this piece was penned—in a dark place, often surrounded by lots of shady people and in the vice-grip of a system that is bent on squeezing the worst out of you. “Do you go to medical?” That was a question repeatedly posed to me by a fellow inmate. The intent of the question was to figure out what drug I was taking. You see, in prison, men line up in droves to go to medical with the hopes of having legal drugs dispensed to them for a wide variety of reasons. I explained to this inmate that I wasn’t on any drugs and that I had never been to medical. He then inquired, “Then why do you look so happy all the time?
