You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Spiritual darkness doesn’t rush in, it creeps in when light fades. The greatest threat to truth isn’t open rebellion, but quiet compromise. And history proves: when the Church loses conviction, culture breeds deception. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden" (Matthew 5:14).
God may be silent but He's never absent. You see, sometimes His silence is a way to test our faith's resilience. Again, we may not hear Him, but He is always near us. It is this fact of faith that should under-gird our act of faith.
It is our faith in Christ that grants us access to God's throne room of grace. But our faith doesn't just bring us to Him, it also makes us more like Him. "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are...
Pray about everything. Literally. Because nothing is too large for God's omnipotence nor is anything too small for God's attentiveness. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6).
Your petition to get more of God will be answered when God gets more of you. In other words, since He has already given us all of Himself in Christ, then we must decrease so He can increase in our life. "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30).
"The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us." (C.S. Lewis)
When you have Jesus Christ in your heart, it is possible to live in the land of affliction and not become a prisoner of it. Because where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty in spite of adversity. "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (II Corinthians 3:17).
Christian, use your brain. I’m not talking to the world; I’m talking to true believers. Discernment isn’t just a spiritual gift; it’s a spiritual discipline. It’s forged through...
I wrote the piece below when I was inmate #314525E. You see, many people view my life now from the vantage point of, “Isn’t he lucky that so many things have worked out for him.” And so, I want to remind you where this piece was penned—in a dark place, often surrounded by lots of shady people and in the vice-grip of a system that is bent on squeezing the worst out of you. And yet because I understood WHO my God was/is---I NEVER lost hope and determined to deal hope to all those who the Lord placed around me---within prison and now outside of prison. So…as you read this piece, ponder the question of whether you are a dealer or a stealer?
There is so much beauty in vulnerability. Consider the many distressful Psalms in the Bible, penned by King David during moments of fatigue, failure, or frustration. Yet, through the transparency of the hurt comes the clarity of the Healer--and therefore hope and encouragement to all those reading them. Recently, I have had the pleasure of hearing testimonies from some of my students and peers alike. Actually, we were in the middle of breaking down “the Law of His Instrument”, a concept from my book, ‘U MAY B THE ONLY BIBLE SOMEBODY READS’. The “law” states that “surrendering to the grip of grace will hold you up to a higher standard of influence.” Meaning, when we....
“Do you go to medical?” That was a question repeatedly posed to me by a fellow inmate. The intent of the question was to figure out what drug I was taking. You see, in prison, men line up in droves to go to medical with the hopes of having legal drugs dispensed to them for a wide variety of reasons. I explained to this inmate that I wasn’t on any drugs and that I had never been to medical. He then inquired, “Then why do you look so happy all the time? After all, this is prison.” That whole exchange still brings a smile to my face as that question gave me an opportunity to testify about the peace that the Lord had encompassed me with in prison. Many would say...
I recently had the privilege to speak at a community event called “Praise in the Park,” which was held at the Cape May County Park/Zoo. It was a venue that consisted of several bands and singers performing to the praise of God in a public setting, with informational booths and fun attractions lining the outskirts of the area. The evening concluded by a special performance from the Christian band ‘Finding Favour’, whose top billboard hit song—Cast My Care—can be heard on XM Radio. Ironically, that song would resonate in my mind and is at the heart of why...
