God didn’t announce salvation to the high and powerful, but to the lowly and present. The shepherds were not impressive, they were available, awake, and willing to listen when heaven broke the silence. When the Light of the world steps into ordinary places, fear loses its grip and faith finds its footing. Christmas reminds us that God places hope where humility can reach it. “And the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people’" (Luke 2:10).
