You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
What we’re seeing in our world isn’t just social unrest, it’s spiritual rebellion. The signs of chaos aren’t random but are the contractions of a world rejecting God’s authority. Lawlessness always begins in the heart before it shows up in culture. When truth is traded for lies, justice is replaced with confusion, and compassion becomes a weapon against order. Scripture warns us of this growing darkness and reminds us that the restraint won’t last forever. “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way" (2 Thessalonians 2:7).
Without affliction, we often don’t change our direction. As David wrote, “Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey Your word” (Psalm 119:67). In other words, God will allow an affliction to grace our lives in order to move us closer to His life.
On the cross, love won. On the cross, sin is gone. On the cross, redemption started. On the cross, death was thwarted. On the cross, He bore our shame. On the cross, He knew our name. On the cross, Oh what a Savior. On the cross, no grace is...
The very One the world wants dead is the only One who died for the world. You see, the mob today still yells "crucify Him" in the way they reject the One True God. And yet, though the world rejects the Lord, that doesn't stop how the Lord...
What happened between man's greatest evil against God (the crucifixion) and God's greatest good for man (the Resurrection)? Jesus took our sin and shame to the deepest grave, He conquered death and made a way for all the world to...
Jesus spoke words of grace from the cross of shame. He said, "Father forgive them" even as we hung Him. In other words, there is no failure of ours that will ever speak louder than the character of God. His forgiveness is greater than our sinfulness. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34).
Celebrating Holy Week is traditional, but celebrating the Holy One who descended upon that week is the Gospel. "No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown" (William Penn). Enough said! "Then the multitudes who...
Many are reacting to the recent exchange between Tucker Carlson and Ted Cruz, but the real issue isn’t politics, it’s perspective. More specifically, it’s a lack of biblical perspective. Despite their influence, both men reveal a limited grasp of Scripture. Tucker views everything through an America-first lens, opposing any foreign policy...
I’m squeezing these thoughts out as quickly and shapely as possible, because my window to write today suddenly shrunk. You see, I just realized today is Wednesday, and Sarah and I have to make our weekly trip to our marriage mentors house. Yep! I like the way that came out—“our marriage mentors.” We are so grateful for Scott and Amy Reef, who have been....
Moving on up! Literally, about 25 miles up the Garden State Parkway! Sarah and I recently made the official move to Ocean City, New Jersey, where we are presently calling 10th & Boardwalk our home. I know the season is changing, which will slow the pace of life around here, but it’s still pretty cool to be living above the boardwalk, where the beach makes up our front lawn! Now here is the amazing grace about this place. When I first got out of prison....
I am returning from Memphis, Tennessee today, where Sarah and I spent the past three days on the move. It was a long-awaited reunion for Sarah and her friends, and obviously, it was the first time for me to meet everyone from Sarah’s Memphis days. Only a handful of them were able to make the journey north last November for our wedding, so this trip south was much anticipated for everyone. And of course, it provided the privilege to visit Sarah’s church—High Point Memphis, which I had heard so much about from the Peterson family. And what an experience that was! Not because it was.....
I don’t ever write to brag, but at times I will boast BUT--SOLEY--in the name and work of the Lord. There is a proverb that has come to life for me again and again: “A mans gift makes room for him and brings him before great men” (Proverbs 18:16). Some translations say your gift or ability will usher you before “great men”, “important people” and even “princes”. I have experienced this ever so abundantly since my release from prison. It was this exact time last year, where I was invited....
