You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
The same voice that thunders over the waters in Psalm 29 is the voice that rules over kings and nations. Storms obey Him, forests bow before Him, and thrones rise and fall at His command. As Daniel told Belshazzar, “The God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways” (Daniel 5:23), nations may plot and rulers may plan, but “The counsel of the Lord stands forever” (Psalm 33:11).
"God is too good to be unkind and He is too wise to be mistaken. And when we cannot trace His hand, we must trust His heart." (Charles Spurgeon)
Calling sin an opinion doesn't stop sin from being poison. And that is why softening what the Bible says so as not to offend, isn't loving, it's lying. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
Hell has many ways. Heaven but one. Thus, know Christ, no death. Or, no Christ, know death. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).
Those who are obedient to truth are never compliant to lies. You see, real eyes realize real lies; and as a result, disciples of Christ do not blindly comply. "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth..." (John 16:13).
Now to Him who is able to preserve you on earth from falling and present you in heaven without fault. "To God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen" (Jude 25).
He who walks with integrity walks securely. In other words, you do not need to worry about outcomes when you trust the Lord for all that comes out. "He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known" (Proverbs 10:9).
Evil rarely shows up all at once, it slides in slowly. It often begins with a small compromise, a quiet exception to God’s clear standard. What once was called sin gets renamed as struggle. What God defined as holy becomes “open to interpretation.” Over time, the truth isn’t just bent, it’s flipped. Eventually, the culture...
Ever hear a hissing sound and thought nothing of it? I highly doubt it, because it is usually the hissing sound that tells us something is leaking – like a bike tire. Not too major of a problem, but neither is it minor, while still requiring the “hiss” to be plugged up and fixed. Thus, in the bike tire example, the hissing tells us that there’s a hole in the tube, making the slight leak hinder the entire bike’s use. And if you do not address the “hisssssing,” you very well could hurt yourself when using the bike. Further, sometimes the hissing can be even more catastrophic like a gas leak or a pipe fault. And anyone who....
Jesus was fully Man to die to the grave; And fully God to rise and to save. The above sounds nice and all, but what am I doing with the knowledge that God saves? I can talk poetically about the Word, which was sent to be “read,” or I can live out the Word inside of me so that I might be read wherever I’m sent. The purpose and power of life is discovered in the.....
I can look out my window, no bars. No mountain of prison towers and fences obstructing my outlook. However, I still compare my current outlook to a mountain climber going over a mountain. The climber’s feet are still planted on the obstacle even though he is at the top and looking down. Don’t misunderstand me - - I say "over it", but I am still touching it! Over the guilt and shame, but still touching it by remorse and remembrance. Over the distressing pain, but still touching it by progressive passion. And even when the mountain......
And the snow keeps on falling, like the pain does from my mind to my heart. I think about this particular month six years ago and those memories in mind trickle down to the chambers of my heart. It’s a slow fall, similar to snow fall, but its landing isn’t as soft. You see, the prison of pain that pushes with passion hits me harder than “the story” that I tell about the pain. I go around and share my story to audiences of all ages and backgrounds, and while my words attempt to explain it, they will never do the justice of.....
