You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
The devil’s accusations stop where the blood of Jesus starts; and hell’s fury can’t outrun Heaven’s victory. Stay covered by the blood, anchored in the Word, and fearless in your testimony. "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death" (Revelation 12:11).
Peace cannot be the rhythm of your heart when worry is the pace of your mind. Therefore, "cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you..." (Psalm 55:22).
We often try to pray away the very trial God sent our way. However, God will allow the fire of a trial to burn off the impurities of the heart. "Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart" (Psalm 26:2).
God is faithful to us when we are truthful to Him. You see, if we confess from our heart what we've done against Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
He who thinks he has rid himself of all pride is never humble enough. Pride is cancerous and can only be cut out by the cross. Humility must be renewed daily. "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18).
When the chest swells, the brain shrinks. Egotism is the epitome of folly. And a prideful man lives for human applause, not heavens approval. "Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him" (Proverbs 26:12).
Grace is the bridge God built to reach sinners (when God became Man). Mercy is the bridge He built for us to reach Him (when that Man became a Lamb). "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29).
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
You never really know how much someone is hurting. It’s impossible to see what is happening on the inside because it is human nature to create defensive dams on the outside to keep our intensive tears from breaking through like a faulty floodgate. Sometimes you can sense pent-up pain, but you can’t feel it compassionately unless you are allowed to touch it, and like a raw nerve that is exposed, it must be diagnosed and treated before one can get a sense.......
My sentencing day January 7th, 2010, came fast. Each day leading up to it was like the rushing sands in an hour glass pouring non-stop reminders that soon it would be empty and reckoning day was near; time flew by from Thanksgiving spilling right into Christmas. The holidays, with all their promise of hope and glad tidings, seemed mechanical and surreal. I felt detached; indifferent. The warm and fuzzy reminders of past family gatherings only added to the strain of going through the motions, putting on a face of hope, when all real enchantment was gone. In addition, this time of the year always brought to our remembrance the life of my brother who passed away....
The following was written to my parents three weeks after my accident on April 1, 2009. My mother recently found it in a pile of notes in her old Bible. Considering I just got done teaching “You Are What You Keep,” Part 2 of our series Unbreakable ReSOULutions at my church, I am in awe of what the Holy Spirit guided me to write--that many years ago. This is just a portion of the three-page letter: Dad and Mom: So where do I begin? My mind races every moment of the day and I still....
Have you ever heard the term “Swan Song?” It refers to the ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song in the moment just before death, having been silent or not so musical during most of their lifetime. Stemmed from Greek mythology, I find there is some metaphorical truth to this. It is often in our darkest moments that we have a decision to make regarding....
