You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Worry borrows tomorrow’s problems but spends today’s peace. The weight we imagine for the future often crushes our joy in the present. But God doesn’t ask us to carry tomorrow, He invites us to cast every care onto Him today. “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
Christ cannot be our present source of peace if we are constantly trying to chase the worlds pace. You see, when the heart stops running, peace begins reigning. "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful" (Colossians 3:15).
The heart of all our countries problems is a problem of the heart. If the heart of man doesn't change, then nothing will change. And only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do that. "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
The fastest way to lose sight of what God has called you to is to begin caring what others think of you. Fearing man ensnares; but fearing the Lord inspires. "The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe" (Proverbs 29:25).
Christians are to be counter to culture, while at the same time being the character of culture. In other words, salt changes what it touches but is not changed by the touch. Likewise, Christians are to be the godly influence of the world but we are not to be influenced by the ungodly world.
The blessings of God are not for the self-sufficient but for the poor in spirit. You see, to know we are bankrupt without Christ is to make us dependent upon His life. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:3).
When the going gets tough, don't give up, but rather know that Christ is enough. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13)
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
Flashback: I was laying on my back in the prison yard on top of a steel, bolted down, picnic table. My arms were outstretched, like a cross, and I was meditating on the passage of Scripture that God placed into my soul this AM. “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10). ‘Be Still and Know’ I kept uttering in my mind, over and over again. And the more I dwelled....
I recently taught a sermon in my church called “Unashamed: Broken Before God.” And before I go any further, I need to pause a moment in awe of the fact that ‘I recently taught a sermon in my church!’ It wasn’t the first time, but I am blown away by Gods grace every time. You see, it is only because of Gods faithfulness to make much of Himself through my brokenness that there is even a platform for me to stand on. I am unashamed to claim......
Thank you for all the Birthday wishes……but truth be told, I am not really 32 years old. At least not in physical freedom time, because if you do the math, I am only 2 years past twenty-five. You know me and my riddles, but that’s just the way I viewed my incarceration; like a time machine that granted me preservation. I know some would have rather I did my time and rotted away, but when....
Through the eyes of a baby, I wonder if the world looks hazy. I wonder if the world’s pain is felt or if a baby knows that sin is the hand they've been dealt. I doubt they know, as their little eyes reveal a clear and clean window. Not tainted yet by the filth of the world--"Oh Lord, please let us see with the innocent eyes of a baby boy or girl." Do you remember being a child and reaching out to the parents....
