You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Gratitude turns what we have into enough, because it shifts our focus from what’s missing to Who is present. A thankful heart sees God’s hand in both plenty and in pain, and finds peace in His provision. When we practice gratitude, lack loses its grip and contentment takes its place. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
A watered down Bible produces waterlogged people. And that is why we need the water of the Word, not the Word watered down. Therefore, let us drink deeply from it by spending intentional time in it. "You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep Your words" (Psalm 119:57).
God made us on purpose for a purpose. "On purpose" because He doesn't make mistakes and "for a purpose" because He wants our lives to highlight His great grace. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10).
The Gospel of Christ confronts us before it converts us. You see, if the flesh is not put to death, the spirit cannot walk in newness of life. "And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires" (Galatians 5:24).
A heart that is set upon the joy of heaven cannot be beset by the sorrow of earth. Oh sorrows will happen, but the joy of the Lord is our weapon. "Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10).
Stop trying to pray away the very trial God has sent your way. Instead, ask God to have His way within the trial by making you more like Him through the trial. "Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing...
God's promises are much bigger than our problems. So instead of seeing the day through those problems, begin to see the day through His promises. He knows what you need and He has you where He needs...
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
This blog is for me. It’s my reminder to remember where I once was and the work that only God could have ever accomplished. It’s so easy to forget the past places we’ve been and even the past faces we’ve seen. For me, the place was prison; and for this blog, the face is a young man named Tommy. When I first met Tommy, his nickname was Toast. Tommy Toast. And he “earned” this name because he spent a lot of time being “burnt out.” You see, Tommy was a self-proclaimed heroin addict. His addiction made heroin his salvation. However, his pursuit for the false salvation of drugs only left him so high that his actions consequentially led him to be so low. Oh so low. How low can you go? Well, this level has only one condition and position lower, and that is.....
Oh Lord, I do not know why You have found favor with me, nor can I ever explain properly how gracious and merciful You have been with my life, for there are no words that could express such magnitude, such greatness, such splendor. Your NAME alone is worthy to be praised and adored. With no solitary act behind it and just three letters on a piece of paper, G-O-D, is worth more than life itself. Your NAME holds more weight than this world and at the sound of your NAME alone, the hearts of mankind shatter and nations crumble. But You declare more than just....
Jesus said, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first” (John 8:7). And the only one who was sinless to throw, was the only one who wanted ALL sinners to know. Jesus wanted everyone down the ages to know that it is much better to be a stone than to throw a stone. You see, anyone can pick up a stone to judge, but what if we learned to pick up the characteristics of a stone to love? How so? Well, if “IMAYB a Stone,” than I cannot afford to throw....
We are officially home from our vacation time, but I have to admit that I have not left behind my “vacation mind.” What’s a vacation mind? It’s a state of mind that unwinds so that the peace of God may enter in. It’s a mind that rewinds to reflect and keeps God at the center. It’s a mind that finds its vacation in Christ without needing to escape from the everyday responsibilities of life. You see, this vacation didn’t help me get away, it actually reminded me to stay close. The time I spent in the Sunshine State reminded me of the shine that can only be found when you take time to “lay out” in the present state of....
