You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
When we chase the wind, we end up empty. When we chase the Word, we end up full. The world offers noise; Christ offers nourishment. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).
Man looks to build up his resume with accomplishments and decorations, but the resume that matters most is the one that replaces your work history with the work Jesus did on Calvary. His work exchanges our sinfulness for His forgiveness and our wretchedness for His righteousness. So let us turn our personal resume into an obituary and allow Jesus’ resume to be our victory.
No matter how much one may gain in this world, without Christ, they still have nothing. And no matter how much one may lose in this world, with Christ, they still have everything.
God is in the restoration business and His primary target is your soul. And though you may not "feel" restored within, remember that healing isn't a feeling but rather a soul that looks to Him. For the soul that looks to the Lord is the soul that is restored.
Humility before God will always cure worldliness while also making a way for His graciousness. Conversely, worldliness before God will only get you His resistance. For "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6).
You can obey the Word or you can be a slave to the world, but you can't do both. So let the truth of God's Word--not the trends of this world--begin to shape your heart. And do not let your mind be conformed to the insolence of the culture, but let it be transformed by the influence of the Savior.
Jesus refuses to be limited by the barriers we build, for no wall of our rejection is too high for Him to breach nor is the pit of our disobedience ever too deep for Him to reach. He still pursues us with the ocean of His love even when we build up bridges to go around Him. We may think we are eluding His love, but nothing can separate us from His love, for He will keep breaking down barriers until He captivates our hearts.
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
(continued from previous iBLOG—"Up On Stage") ….After thanking the appropriate parties for the invitation to be at the graduation ceremony, I transitioned to the reason I was requested to deliver the keynote in the first place; To remind the graduates how every decision they will make from this point forward will determine their destinies. So I thought, what would I tell the senior graduating version of myself? Hmmm, if I could go back and tell myself 5 of the most consequential truths that I have learned through my journey of transitions, what would I share? All of which came to light in my heart and mind in the darkness of prison. All of which were learned through trouble. But trouble that God trusted me with. Graduates…..
Truly it was a great honor to be invited--by the graduating seniors and the Administration of Atlantic Christian School--to be their 2015 commencement speaker. As I took the stage, I knew there were probably a lot of people who were wondering who I was and why was I up on stage with the honorary participants of the night. So I begin, “And in case you are wondering ‘who I am’ and ‘why am I up here?’ Well, please allow me to join you in that question….(dramatic pause)….but please also allow me to humbly propose to you, the answer: But by.....
(Written by 350 lb Little John--pic from 2003 in Rahway State prison yard): I always thought power came from fear, or carrying a gun, or wielding a variety of weapons like bats, black jacks, knives or brass knuckles. I was mostly the brawn and seldom the brains and I liked it that way. It was much easier-- beat this one, break that one, damage him or worse. My life as a mob enforcer wasn’t to try to figure things out or set up complex schemes. My sole reason for being was to instill fear into people so they ‘would’ think twice about not paying a debt, a gambling bet or the vig on some shy money. I instilled fear because of my enforcer tactics: smack people around, beat someone....
Alright, alright, I hear all the buzz. We praise strength and those willing to go to great lengths to “be true to themselves.” But quite frankly, I don’t have enough time to “keep up with the Kardashians” or this worlds crazy shenanigans. I will say this however--I do think the “Caitlin Jenner” transition is mind boggling; but I am in no position to judge another persons journey. Besides, Jesus loves him just as much as He loves ALL. There is not a single individual that can escape the Savior’s Love, for He died for the world. So let’s get that straight. Having said that, I must add that when we pursue a path, we must be careful not to miss the boat, because we are not the “captains” of...
