You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Light doesn’t argue with darkness, it simply shines into it. And darkness has no defense against even the smallest flame. In the same way, you don’t have to out-shout the culture or win every argument, you just have to out-shine it with Christ in you. "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden" (Matthew 5:14).
Matthew Maher presents Daily Dose: "My strength is made perfect in your weakness" (II Corinthians 12:9). The world would "sell" us strength to drive us from our weakness. Yet God tells us that our weakness is the vehicle that drives His strength. Thus, you can trust Jesus to make His perfection known in your imperfection.
Matthew Maher presents Daily Dose: Rest in the reality of God, for His presence with you and His promises for you are His comforts to you.
Matthew Maher presents Daily Dose: The truest measure of influence isn't dependent upon how much you know intellectually, how far you've gone professionally, or even how much you have financially. No. The truest measure of influence is reflected by how well you show what you know persuasively and courageously; where courage isn't the absence of fear, but rather the awareness of Jesus being near.
Matthew Maher presents Daily Dose: Failure is never wasteful if it moved you forward in your faith. Therefore, embrace grace not regret.
Matthew Maher present Daily Dose: It is better to stand with God and be judged by the world than to stand with the world and be judged by God.
Matthew Maher presents Daily Dose: The warriors of salvation are often produced in the valley of affliction. Thus, for God to allow trouble into your life, is for God to allow training into your life. He is looking to make soldiers, not complainers.
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
(continued from previous iBLOG—"Up On Stage") ….After thanking the appropriate parties for the invitation to be at the graduation ceremony, I transitioned to the reason I was requested to deliver the keynote in the first place; To remind the graduates how every decision they will make from this point forward will determine their destinies. So I thought, what would I tell the senior graduating version of myself? Hmmm, if I could go back and tell myself 5 of the most consequential truths that I have learned through my journey of transitions, what would I share? All of which came to light in my heart and mind in the darkness of prison. All of which were learned through trouble. But trouble that God trusted me with. Graduates…..
Truly it was a great honor to be invited--by the graduating seniors and the Administration of Atlantic Christian School--to be their 2015 commencement speaker. As I took the stage, I knew there were probably a lot of people who were wondering who I was and why was I up on stage with the honorary participants of the night. So I begin, “And in case you are wondering ‘who I am’ and ‘why am I up here?’ Well, please allow me to join you in that question….(dramatic pause)….but please also allow me to humbly propose to you, the answer: But by.....
(Written by 350 lb Little John--pic from 2003 in Rahway State prison yard): I always thought power came from fear, or carrying a gun, or wielding a variety of weapons like bats, black jacks, knives or brass knuckles. I was mostly the brawn and seldom the brains and I liked it that way. It was much easier-- beat this one, break that one, damage him or worse. My life as a mob enforcer wasn’t to try to figure things out or set up complex schemes. My sole reason for being was to instill fear into people so they ‘would’ think twice about not paying a debt, a gambling bet or the vig on some shy money. I instilled fear because of my enforcer tactics: smack people around, beat someone....
Alright, alright, I hear all the buzz. We praise strength and those willing to go to great lengths to “be true to themselves.” But quite frankly, I don’t have enough time to “keep up with the Kardashians” or this worlds crazy shenanigans. I will say this however--I do think the “Caitlin Jenner” transition is mind boggling; but I am in no position to judge another persons journey. Besides, Jesus loves him just as much as He loves ALL. There is not a single individual that can escape the Savior’s Love, for He died for the world. So let’s get that straight. Having said that, I must add that when we pursue a path, we must be careful not to miss the boat, because we are not the “captains” of...
