You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Gratitude turns what we have into enough, because it shifts our focus from what’s missing to Who is present. A thankful heart sees God’s hand in both plenty and in pain, and finds peace in His provision. When we practice gratitude, lack loses its grip and contentment takes its place. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
Stop trying to figure it out and start praying to filter it out. You see, the more you talk to the Lord about it, the clearer you become about it. Delighting in Him is what clarifies the desires of our heart. "Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4).
Christ cannot be our present source of peace if we are constantly trying to chase the worlds pace. You see, when the heart stops running, peace begins reigning. "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful" (Colossians 3:15).
The heart of all our countries problems is a problem of the heart. If the heart of man doesn't change, then nothing will change. And only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do that. "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
The fastest way to lose sight of what God has called you to is to begin caring what others think of you. Fearing man ensnares; but fearing the Lord inspires. "The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe" (Proverbs 29:25).
Christians are to be counter to culture, while at the same time being the character of culture. In other words, salt changes what it touches but is not changed by the touch. Likewise, Christians are to be the godly influence of the world but we are not to be influenced by the ungodly world.
The blessings of God are not for the self-sufficient but for the poor in spirit. You see, to know we are bankrupt without Christ is to make us dependent upon His life. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:3).
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
I wonder how much emotion fits into each tear. I know a gamut of situations can squeeze them out. What is it really that triggers the tear duct? Something on the inside is pinched and causes a gloss to lube your eye; and depending on the gravity of the situation, tears can mist over like dew on grass, they can flow over like a river without a bank, or they can flood out....
The valley is valuable. But only if you walk through--not run through--knowing that God has a purpose for everything that touches you. Because if you move too fast in the valley, it becomes impossible to be steadfast in the valley. And being steadfast is ultimately what we need. What is steadfast you ask? It's knowing that steady heeding Jesus is the fastest way to peace. Being steadfast is the quickest way to hear God's still voice through the valley's moving breeze. So let us walk through knowing that God.....
I don’t know about you, but I still feel a bit stuffed from my tour of Thanksgiving festivities last week. From my in-laws house for a late lunch smorgasbord, to my parents for a buffet-style dinner, and yes, all in the same day! Needless to say, Sarah and I departed home with enough leftovers to last through the week. For that I am grateful. Homes across America probably....
It’s not that I was taking advantage of her, but mainly of how I just didn’t care to see her or appreciate her. And it’s not that I didn’t know her well, but more-so of how I just didn’t understand her fully. I neglected her presence in my life and her desire to hug me and snug me. I believed she wanted me because of what I was about, what I had, and how I moved. Besides, I thought I was....
