You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Gratitude turns what we have into enough, because it shifts our focus from what’s missing to Who is present. A thankful heart sees God’s hand in both plenty and in pain, and finds peace in His provision. When we practice gratitude, lack loses its grip and contentment takes its place. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
A preoccupation with worldly things will always lead to a hopeless end. But a preoccupation with Christ the King will always lead to endless hope. "Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us" (Romans 5:5).
The only way to keep the cares of life from weighing us down is to cast them up to a God who lifts us up. You see, because God cares, we can trust Him with our cares. "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22).
Contentment isn't about what you have or don't have but recognizing God has you. And to have a God who has you is to know He has your needs covered too. "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).
Our souls will always be restless in life until they come to rest in Christ. "Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you" (Psalm 116:7).
Ignorance of God's goodness is the cause of all bitterness. Because when we truly grasp God's grace, the root of bitterness will have no grip on our lives. "See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of...
There is no refuge from Christ, there is only refuge in Christ. In other words, the only way to be saved from the wrath of God is to be saved by the love of God. "Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in...
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
I know what it’s like to feel the suffocating grip of loneliness. Yet when it was done squeezing me, Jesus was still with me. I know what it’s like to feel the nauseating feeling of helplessness. Yet when there was no more help to hold onto, that’s when I discovered that God’s hope was holding onto me. I know what it’s like to taste despair and swallow shame. Yet both ingredients were necessary to break my hard heart so it could be mended by grace. I know what it’s like to be lost in the world. Yet by God’s grace alone, I now know what it’s like to be found by the Lord. "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth" (Psalm 121:1-2).
Life apparently seems “complete” when there is no storm nor darkness in our path, and many times over we equate the absence of trouble and trials in our lives as blessings. However, sprinkled all throughout Scripture, we see that the most used individuals were tested. They were afflicted, tempted, and introduced to adversity, that they may be found “perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” Complete then in God’s eyes, must be...
I’m sure that at some point in your life you possessed or handled a glow stick. Whether for good fun or emergency purposes, every type of glow stick has to be broken before it can give light. The brokenness occurs on the inside. Within the plastic tube are chemicals housed in separate containers. When the plastic tube is bent....
Like a hundred dollar bill, we may be valuable, but the question is: Are we usable? A hundred dollar bill that is lost or even in your pocket is still worth a hundred dollars, but it does not prove its value until you find it or take it out of your pocket to use it. The value of the hundred dollar bill only has real value when it's in....
