You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Faith isn’t proven by getting what we want, but by trusting the Lord even when we don’t. Even when healing delays or the answer is “wait,” grace still holds us. Because sometimes God doesn’t remove the struggle, but He always stays with us in it. “Trophimus I have left in Miletus sick" (2 Timothy 4:20).
Joy may be seen with a smile—but deep joy is clearly seen through a trial. You see, joy becomes the composure of the soul when we surrender to the truth that God is always in control. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as...
God does not throw away the qualities we abuse, but rather He rewires them for His use. In other words, when we come to know Him personally, He will take our misplaced passions and harness them for the use of heaven. His Spirit recycles our...
The only way for our joy to remain full is to have frequent and intimate interactions with the Lord. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full" (John 15:11).
God’s faithfulness isn’t just a constant to us, but it is also a compass for us. You see, when we place our heart in His hand, His hand begins to direct our heart. "A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps" (Proverbs 16:9).
Satan wants to make saints into sinners by getting them to take their eyes off the Savior. And he wants to make sinners think they are saints through religion and the indoctrination of sacraments. You see, if he can get the believer to...
No man was ever kept out of God’s kingdom for his confessed badness; many are for their supposed goodness (Trapp). "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us" (I John 1:10).
Comparative Analysis: Christianity vs. Islam Revelation and Textual Integrity: The Bible vs. The Quran • Muhammad claimed to have received revelations from the angel Gabriel for about 23 years, starting in 609 AD. The result was a sea of contradictions...
Every time I look at my Bible I’m reminded of two things: prison and peace. How is that possible? First, it wasn’t that prison was my peace, but I was imprisoned by peace while in prison. And the peace of God that guarded me was greater than any guard or wall that confined me. And second, one day I was out of my area and a guy in my housing unit decided to surprise me with a gift. This gentleman had noticed how worn and torn my Bible cover was and found it fitting to make a new unique cover for it. The material?
Recently I was doing a teaching at my church on the topic of “worry.” Naturally I was telling parts of my own story—particularly what was going through my mind after finding out that I was responsible for an at-fault drunk driving accident where an innocent man was killed. I was using my experiences to highlight the power of God in our lives–especially when all seems so hopeless. My parents were in church that day. After church was over, my mom was turning in a ‘response card’ to one of the ushers.....
My speaking schedule the past several weeks has been quite busy. We’ve been back and forth from one end of the state to the other doing multiple engagements, with each stop having its own climatic flavor, while some have inadvertently provided their own type of humor. I still laugh in my head when I think of this one incident. I’m telling about my meeting with my lawyer and how much time I was looking to do in prison, (up to 10 years), and say how I wasn’t worried about it. Not because I was in denial, but because....
In honor of the Christmas season and the fact that my brother John’s upcoming 10th anniversary to heaven (December 15th ) is upon us, I thought it was fitting to post a Christmas column that my mom wrote a year after his death. The year Jesus Himself showed up at Christmas. May it bless all of those who are grieving a loss during this season. You can hear more about grief and the holidays in this week’s radio podcast ‘HIS BIRTH is GREATER than DEATH.’ You can tune in by clicking on the "Matt & Mom Live!" tab at my website, www.themattmaherstory.com. WHEN JESUS CAME CALLING By Andrea Maher I love Christmas. I never tire of the beauty of this season.....
