When we chase the wind, we end up empty. When we chase the Word, we end up full. The world offers noise; Christ offers nourishment. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).
Attending church on Sunday may be about lifting Jesus up. But being the church every other day should be about living Jesus out. You see, the world needs to witness the love of Jesus from the pulpit of our lives in order for them to want Jesus to come into their own lives. In other words, if you talk it, be the first to walk it so the world can see it.
What the Lord requires of us is to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him. To do justly is to live by integrity regardless of the consequences. To love mercy is to see others the way Jesus views them. And to walk humbly is to be poised by gentleness and powered by God's faithfulness. These are the Christian's requirements, not out of responsibility, but purely out of response to Calvary.
We pursue what we value. As does God. And since He pursued us by going to the cross and still pursues us with His grace, then what does that say about our value?
O Lord, Your forgiveness has set me free. Your amazing grace has made my heart a bended knee. And I thank you for Your relentless love that pursues me, for it changes me and altogether soothes me. You are a gracious God and a merciful Master, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
The greatest power on earth is the power of the Holy Spirit. And the effectiveness of such power is only as great as your surrender to the Lord. Thus, when we yield to Him, this spiritual power becomes real to us. Because His power in you is greater than any power this world will ever offer you.
The fruitful life often needs rain just as much as sunshine. Thus, when we are connected to Jesus--the Vine--even the storms of life become useful in the process of becoming fruitful. Accept the rain then, knowing the sun is right on the other side of the clouds.

I just recently spoke in Concord, California at the prestigious Every 15 Minutes Program, held at Carondelet High School & De La Salle High School. This impressive program offers experiences that simulate real-life risks involved with drinking and driving, and texting while driving. The mood is somber and includes a mock funeral with caskets, pallbearers, and even a simulated crash scene, enacted the day before, which replays on the big screen. The room is filled with gloom. Anytime you decide to take a stand in LIFE, you’re going to have critics. Anytime you commit to leading the WAY, you’re going to have cynics. And anytime you unashamedly present the TRUTH, you’re going to have skeptics. What do these “ics” have in common? Well, most of the time, they don’t know the WAY that Jesus went, the TRUTH that Jesus spoke, or the LIFE that Jesus gave. I close every assembly with this parable for the audience to consider: "There was a hiker lost in the wilderness, who happened upon another man, a pioneer, resting his back against a tree. The lost hiker, frantic and anxious, approached the pioneer to ask him if he could help him find his way out. The pioneer replied, "I cannot help you find your way out, that is ultimately up to you. But I can tell you of paths that you certainly should not take. I can tell you of ways that led me nowhere. I can tell you of mud bogs, snakes pits, and briar patches that you must steer clear from. Ever hear a hissing sound and thought nothing of it? I highly doubt it, because it is usually the hissing sound that tells us something is leaking – like a bike tire. Not too major of a problem, but neither is it minor, while still requiring the “hiss” to be plugged up and fixed. Thus, in the bike tire example, the hissing tells us that there’s a hole in the tube, making the slight leak hinder the entire bike’s use. And if you do not address the “hisssssing,” you very well could hurt yourself when using the bike. Further, sometimes the hissing can be even more catastrophic like a gas leak or a pipe fault.
