You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Gratitude turns what we have into enough, because it shifts our focus from what’s missing to Who is present. A thankful heart sees God’s hand in both plenty and in pain, and finds peace in His provision. When we practice gratitude, lack loses its grip and contentment takes its place. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
The hardest aspect of going through adversity is often time. But in time, you will see that the thing that caused you so much agony is the exact same thing that developed you the most spiritually. And the best thing to do in the midst of an affliction isn't to watch the time slowly tick away, but to fix your eyes on Jesus whose grace is sufficient for the day.
God doesn't waste anything from the trail of our lives. He takes the stuff that we think is left behind with no value--the messes, the confusions, and even the devastations--and He fashions it all into something worthy to be used for His glory and our good. Nothing is wasteful to a God who is faithful.
The best thing we can do each day is to position our heart in a place where we can experience God. Whether it be prayer with Him, stillness before Him, or devotions in Him, the heart is strongest when it is bent toward Him.
Grace wasn't granted so we could sin freely. But rather, grace was granted so we could be free of sin. You see, God's grace isn't just an eraser that wipes up our mistakes, but it's also a buffer that keep us from making mistakes. It is out of the glorious grace given to us in Jesus that we can live a life victorious.
Nobody can curse what God has blessed. Consider how a “Merry Christmas” has nothing to do with presents and everything to do with His presence. Again, having a "Merry Christmas" isn't about being liked by the crowd, but it does signify that not even a “King Herod” can take you out. Remember, the devil doesn’t fight us because of where we are; he fights us because....
We may make plans that we think are best, but without God's blessing, those plans are sure to bust. He knows the perfect plans He has for us. Therefore, it would be wise to ask Him for His hand of blessing before we take a step in our own direction. You'd be surprised how willing God is to show you He knows best when you take the time to ask Him for His best
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
I don’t believe there is ever anything wasteful about adversity, unless we ourselves see the adversity as wasteful. Thus, our vision determines our conclusion. Without vision, a person has no purpose; and without purpose, a person has no hope. A life absent of hope then, is a life absent of life. I’m not trying to get all philosophical—but the bottom line is—that God has given us Jesus as the focal point of our hope, which allows us to walk through any of the temporary stuff--messy or not--with the steps of eternity....
I guess I will always need fuel to feed the flame of my pen. I was never at a loss for words while in prison, due to the nature of constant chaos that God allowed me to filter into countless writings, day by day for almost 5 years. Now out, I find myself really racking my brain for my next blog, column, or “daily inspiration.” But in this very moment, I tell you the truth, my thoughts......
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy" --MLK jr. The believer must refuse to allow injustice to speak louder than integrity. Because most of the time even the most eloquent words won't be heard over the ignorant majority. Nonetheless, godly character always endures the conflict of the enemy, solely because the heart knows that what's eventually coming is called GLORY! Truth always marches on.
I’ve had so many people tell me they are “glad my life has worked out the way it has.” Thanks! I am too. However, if I am going to be honest with you, I have to be the first to say how things haven't "worked out for me" randomly. But it is God who has worked things out for me purposefully. Nothing I am doing today has happened overnight, the same way a 100-meter sprinter....
