You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Gratitude turns what we have into enough, because it shifts our focus from what’s missing to Who is present. A thankful heart sees God’s hand in both plenty and in pain, and finds peace in His provision. When we practice gratitude, lack loses its grip and contentment takes its place. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
It doesn't matter if we know all the timelines of the Bible if we don't line up our times with the Bible. You see, what good is eschatology without knowing God personally? "Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed" (Romans 13:11).
Those who humbly know the Way will boldly go the Way. Also, nothing can get in the way of unashamedly showing others the Way. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek" (Romans 1:16).
While Jesus is preparing a place for us in heaven, He is preparing us for that place here on earth. You see, trials are for us in order to form us into the image of Jesus. "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us" (Romans 8:18).
To give the devil a toe-hold can quickly lead to a soul-hold. Yes, even a subtle compromise can begin a landslide to your own demise. Thus, we must guard our heart with all diligence so the Lord's way is our only consequence. "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23).
All that is happening is happening not so that we hold on to life but so that we hold on to Christ. You see, crisis is an opportunity to know who Christ is. "That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death" (Philippians 3:10).
Jesus sat with sinners. He didn't sin with them. You see, He entered into our world so we could enter into His world. Likewise for us, when we empathize with people, we are making a way to evangelize the Gospel. "When Jesus heard it...
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
You never really know how much someone is hurting. It’s impossible to see what is happening on the inside because it is human nature to create defensive dams on the outside to keep our intensive tears from breaking through like a faulty floodgate. Sometimes you can sense pent-up pain, but you can’t feel it compassionately unless you are allowed to touch it, and like a raw nerve that is exposed, it must be diagnosed and treated before one can get a sense.......
My sentencing day January 7th, 2010, came fast. Each day leading up to it was like the rushing sands in an hour glass pouring non-stop reminders that soon it would be empty and reckoning day was near; time flew by from Thanksgiving spilling right into Christmas. The holidays, with all their promise of hope and glad tidings, seemed mechanical and surreal. I felt detached; indifferent. The warm and fuzzy reminders of past family gatherings only added to the strain of going through the motions, putting on a face of hope, when all real enchantment was gone. In addition, this time of the year always brought to our remembrance the life of my brother who passed away....
The following was written to my parents three weeks after my accident on April 1, 2009. My mother recently found it in a pile of notes in her old Bible. Considering I just got done teaching “You Are What You Keep,” Part 2 of our series Unbreakable ReSOULutions at my church, I am in awe of what the Holy Spirit guided me to write--that many years ago. This is just a portion of the three-page letter: Dad and Mom: So where do I begin? My mind races every moment of the day and I still....
Have you ever heard the term “Swan Song?” It refers to the ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song in the moment just before death, having been silent or not so musical during most of their lifetime. Stemmed from Greek mythology, I find there is some metaphorical truth to this. It is often in our darkest moments that we have a decision to make regarding....
