Pride has a way of convincing us that we don't need God, don't need correction, and don't need anyone else's help. It lifts us up in our own eyes while blinding us to our own weaknesses. Humility, on the other hand, keeps us teachable, dependent on God, and grounded in truth. The higher pride lifts a person, the harder the fall, but humility walks securely with the Lord. "When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom" (Proverbs 11:2).
