You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
Gratitude turns what we have into enough, because it shifts our focus from what’s missing to Who is present. A thankful heart sees God’s hand in both plenty and in pain, and finds peace in His provision. When we practice gratitude, lack loses its grip and contentment takes its place. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
We cannot expect to hear God’s voice if God doesn’t ever hear our voice. In other words, God has an ear for those who have a heart to pray. And those who pray will have an ear to hear God's heart. "Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!" (Psalm 116:2)
The grace of God's heart is stronger than the shame in our hearts. "If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything" (I John 3:20).
Pursue relationships that glorify the heart of God, not ones that impress the eyes of man. "Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm" (Proverbs 13:20).
It doesn't matter what people say about you. It only matters what God says to you. And He says, "You are forgiven in spite of what you've done, for you are redeemed solely because of what I've done. And what I've done has forever covered you because of the sacrifice of My Son. You are mine and you are worth it; this is My doing, and no devil can undo it.”
Sometimes one of the fastest ways to get to where God needs you is to be still. You see, stillness before God often progresses you quicker than movement for God. Therefore, "Be still and know that He is God" (Psalm 46:10).
When we see God in everything, He brings perspective and purpose to everything we see. Perhaps the circumstances you are in may not change, but to see God is to surrender to His unchanging sovereignty and that most certainly changes you.
On Labor Day weekend, I’ll begin a new teaching series at Landmark Church titled “The Last Revelation: Countdown To The Kingdom.” For the past several months, I’ve been studying, praying, and seeking the Lord in preparation for what He desires to...
With yet another senseless tragedy, I know it is easy to become fatigued by sympathy. I mean, you cannot turn on the news these days without bad news dominating our eyes and ultimately creating anger, angst, or apathy within our hearts. Yet for the individual who calls them-self a "Christian," we must remember how Jesus said "in this world...
Being out of prison for this long, you'd probably think that I wouldn't still be in contact with so many jail-birds. No, not my former peers! I’m referring to my new friends at the seashore--seagulls. You see, seagulls were a common sight in the big yard and by watching them, I found some interesting parallels...
It is quite easy to be discontent with the place where God has placed you. Actually, it is because we lose sight of God's grace that we fight the place where God has chosen to plant us. But when we recognize that we are right where we need to be--which means we are surrendered to God's will--we become trees of righteousness, planted by the Lord for His glory through...
[Admin Note: This is a journal entry from Matthew's time in prison, recorded on October 16th, 2010] I failed terribly today, and I have to admit, it was well worth it. I tend to suffer most in the recovery following these moments of failure, but trust that the more I suffer, the more I will eventually have to offer others. Please allow me to explain: I allowed a trivial incident to steal my peace today and I learned a valuable lesson in the process: I can only be
