Light doesn’t argue with darkness, it simply shines into it. And darkness has no defense against even the smallest flame. In the same way, you don’t have to out-shout the culture or win every argument, you just have to out-shine it with Christ in you. "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden" (Matthew 5:14).
Father, grant me the character that is greater than my gifts and the humility that is greater than my influence. Amen.
Be confident that He who has done a good work for you (at the cross) will also complete the good work within you (in your character). You see, God abandons nothing that He undertakes and He will leave nothing unfinished that He creates. Be confident therefore, that if God has started a good work, He will finish the good work.
Extraordinary afflictions are not always the punishment of extraordinary sins, but sometimes the trial of extraordinary graces. Sanctified afflictions are spiritual promotions. (Matthew Henry)
Whatever crosses the path of your life had to pass through the scarred hands of Jesus Christ. And those hands can be trusted.
With God, all things are possible and purposeful. So do not discount a trial as just an inconvenience, but know that God uses it all to make us more like Him in appearance. All things work together for good and "the good" is to make us more like God.
Let us be grateful that Jesus still does miracles in the midst of our mistakes.
