You’ll find two types of blogs here: long-form (Blog) & short-form (Daily Dose).
If God has redeemed you, don’t stay silent. Your story matters, not because it’s perfect, but because it points to a perfect Redeemer. Redemption is meant to be declared. So today, remember His rescue and let your words reflect His goodness. You’ve been redeemed. Say so. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble" (Psalm 107:2).
The Gospel is not just information that confronts the mind. The Gospel is a Person who transforms the heart. Jesus is the only One who can deconstruct the twisted soul and reconstruct it into something whole. Make no mistake, nothing in this world is more powerful than the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
When you are open to do more for God, He will be open to do more through you. You see, what is required isn't great talent, but great intent. Meaning, be simply willing to show up so that God can supremely show out. God will do great things through the individual who allows Him.
No sin, no shame, no past, no pain....know Jesus. Do you know the One who died for your sin and shame, the only One who can redeem your past and pain? Do you know Jesus personally? Again, when you know Jesus, you know peace.
If you only see your own pain, you'll never see God's perfect plan.
When you know this world is not your home--but you are a citizen of heaven--it becomes easier to overcome the struggles of this life. Keep your mind therefore set on things above, where Christ is, knowing He is presently with you and eternally for you. Again, it's easier to overcome when you know where you're from.
Jesus can take earth's saddest failures and recycle them into heaven's most glorious victories. Consider the cross and how seeming loss was transformed into redeeming gain, because God always has a plan to bring beautiful melodies from the most ugliest of tragedies.
Evil rarely shows up all at once, it slides in slowly. It often begins with a small compromise, a quiet exception to God’s clear standard. What once was called sin gets renamed as struggle. What God defined as holy becomes “open to interpretation.” Over time, the truth isn’t just bent, it’s flipped. Eventually, the culture...
We are officially home from our vacation time, but I have to admit that I have not left behind my “vacation mind.” What’s a vacation mind? It’s a state of mind that unwinds so that the peace of God may enter in. It’s a mind that rewinds to reflect and keeps God at the center. It’s a mind that finds its vacation in Christ without needing to escape from the everyday responsibilities of life. You see, this vacation didn’t help me get away, it actually reminded me to stay close. The time I spent in the Sunshine State reminded me of the shine that can only be found when you take time to “lay out” in the present state of....
It's true, you never really know what you've got until it's gone. But also, in some situations, it takes being gone to realize what you've got. Being back in Florida with my family for the first time in 6 years has taught me a humbling lesson about the void that I left my parents with since I've been gone. Other family members, who are here with us now, (and were here in years past) have told me privately how both my mother and my father have a different type of vacation relief this time around. You see, it's as if--for the past 5 Florida trips--they've left behind a "peace" of luggage that was locked up and....
You really can't walk a few feet in Disney World without seeing people taking photographs. Most of those photo op's involve posing in front of a scenic background or vibrant foreground. Whether it's a giant castle behind you or Minnie Mouse next to you, there is just something "magical" about capturing the moment....or is it more about capturing our own likeness? I'm sorry, this is just how my mind works these days! Perhaps we love seeing ourselves in a picture because deep down inside we are reminiscing about that which is eternal. Perhaps it's not the external image that we are.....
Let's just say I couldn't see this day six years ago.....though, while I was "there", I imagined it every year that my family was here. And it is the imagination that can often be a preview of coming attractions. Anyway, last time I was in Florida was 6 years ago--post-tragedy and pre-prison. And as Magic Kingdom was an amusement option during that time with my family--please understand--it wasn't ALL "Disney" for me....In fact, I would soon be....
